Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, but listen to your students, don’t be afraid to make changes as you are learning too, have reasoning behind what you are doing and verbalize it, keep being a student yourself, no tricks, keep things aligned and most importantly for me is value the student-teacher relationship and be yourself when teaching – you will enjoy it more and so will the students! By continuing to use this website, you agree to their use. I found that the key to my teaching is to have a solid bridge in to grab the students attention and then tie it all together at the end. The facilitator provides a summary of the lesson and ends with three strategies for problem solving. The assessment instrument kept the students on their toes in ensuring that they listened and understood the lesson from the beginning to the end. I do think it is ironic that I will be taking this course last but I hope it allows me to look at all the other PIDP course information with a wider lens.

Capstone Project PIDP – Vancouver Community College
I take the work home, and am constantly thinking of ideas and how to improve but it is very rewarding and allows you to be creative which I love. My first teaching demonstration was a Reading course last 20 March which was video documented. The assessment instrument kept the students on their toes in ensuring that they listened and understood the lesson from the beginning to the end.
The proposed program had an implementation guide sheet with engagement strategies; an assessment instrument ; and an evaluation plan. Introductions and Expectation Setting Fun activity: Teaching is definitely more work then I could have imagined.
Student enthusiasm is heightened when one shares stories.

New media like video clips and power point presentations catch student attention but conversations always generate more interest in learning from one another.

The participants will be able to draft a mind map of a topic for a memo projct exercise and appreciate problem solving as a creative part of learning. For the Reading class, these were the things that went well: I made sure that my lessons would complement and facilitate the completion of the student assignments.
Learning how to do a needs assessment to help determine what the course should include. They were expected to be hard-boiled eggs to illustrate the quick-peeling process.
I projwct appreciated the feedback from instructors and feel that they want me to succeed. Close monitoring of responses and follow up paved the way to doing two Capstone teaching demonstrations for Reading and Listening classes.

That was the most fun for me. After finishing all the course requirements for all the foundation courses in January, I focused on finding an institution, university or college who was willing to provide me with a window of opportunity to run a 45 minute capsotne to adult learners.

Students responded warmly when I shared a personal story how the new material was used in a leadership training for Philippine public and government officials.
